CITYCENTER NOW BOOKING MEETING AND CONVENTION SPACE FOR 2009
LAS VEGAS – CityCenter, a dazzling vertical city developed by MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGM) in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, is now accepting reservations for meetings and conventions at its dramatic gaming resort. Designed by internationally acclaimed architects Pelli Clarke Pelli, the iconic 61-story, 4,000-room resort-casino will set a new global standard in hospitality. When the resort-casino opens in late 2009, it will feature approximately 300,000 square feet of technologically advanced meeting and convention space.
CityCenter
The resort-casino is at the heart of CityCenter, a more than $8 billion city-within-a-city that is a joint venture of MGM MIRAGE and Dubai World. Located on 76 acres between Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts, CityCenter is destined to redefine the Las Vegas skyline and the Las Vegas experience. MGM MIRAGE has joined eight of the world’s foremost architects to create an unparalleled architectural icon that will become a global landmark of taste and style. The resort-casino, and CityCenter overall, will deliver the type of unprecedented dining, entertainment, shopping and spas for which MGM MIRAGE is renowned around the world. In addition to the gaming resort and convention facility, CityCenter will feature two 400-room, non-gaming hotels including Las Vegas’ first Mandarin Oriental; approximately 2,650 luxury residences; and The Crystals, a 500,000 square-foot retail and entertainment district. In the resort-casino’s spectacular entertainment venue, Cirque du Soleil will introduce a new production celebrating the legacy of Elvis Presley.
Hotel Casino Convention Facility
Within the resort-casino’s meeting and convention facility, four ballrooms will offer the flexibility to accommodate gatherings of all sizes from 10 to 5,000 attendees and three will feature fully functioning theatrical stages. The largest ballroom will measure 51,000 square feet with a 25-foot ceiling and deliver the ability to divide into 10 separate meeting rooms.
Two ballrooms each will offer 38,000-square-feet of space, feature 25-foot ceilings and divide into eight separate meeting rooms. The fourth ballroom will feature 20,000 square feet of space with a 20-foot ceiling and can be configured into two or three independent meeting rooms. The facility will encompass three levels and deliver a total of 38 meeting rooms ranging from 800 to 2,000 square feet on each level. All meeting rooms will feature built-in audio visual systems with high-definition video projectors. The north façade will feature a spectacular glass curtain wall that overlooks the pool providing a lush, landscaped backdrop and natural light.
For technical ease, the facility will boast floor-and-ceiling electrical power distribution as well as flexible, full-production rigging in ballrooms. Patchable fiber, Ethernet cable, broadband and wireless Internet connections will be available throughout the convention center. The facility also will offer truck docks with commercial dock plates and allow easy drive-in vehicle access, including non-commercial vehicles.
“We are pleased to begin accepting group programs at CityCenter’s resort-casino. Without a doubt, CityCenter will deliver unrivaled experiences to meeting planners and attendees alike. From planning to execution, meetings at CityCenter will be highly efficient and deliver on every expectation,” said Gail Fitzgerald, vice president of hotel sales and marketing. “The development of our meeting and convention facility emphasizes our commitment to the convention market and to create growth opportunities for customers of MGM MIRAGE.”
For guest convenience, six registration desks will be located throughout the convention area, and the property’s business center will be conveniently located at the main entrance to the facility. Hotel sales, marketing, convention services, catering and banquet departments will be easily accessed on the second level.
Charting a new course for responsible growth in Las Vegas, MGM MIRAGE is pursuing the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at CityCenter. The 18-million-square-foot, multi-use project will incorporate a variety of elements – from the use of reclaimed water to on-site power generation – to make it one of the world’s largest environmentally sustainable urban communities.
